Greetings Oakland Elementary Families:
It is an honor to write to you as the principal of Oakland Elementary School. I am extremely proud and excited to have the opportunity to serve our school community in this new role. I can not imagine a better place to spend my days working with kids and adults to build relationships and pursue meaningful learning.
I have been part of the Royal Oak Schools for over twenty years and have spent the past fourteen years serving the Oakland Elementary community. I am proud of all that we have accomplished and look forward to the years that come. As the Principal of Oakland Elementary, I am dedicated to furthering our work to build a supportive and inclusive learning community that meets the needs of all students, values and celebrates their unique strengths, empowers them to grow socially and academically, and guides them in building a bright future for themselves.
Aside from my life’s work as an educator, I am a deeply devoted father and husband. My wife is a great mom and a talented science teacher. Our son, Brennan, is a senior at Grand Valley studying Kinesiology, hoping to be a Physical Therapist someday. Our twin daughters, Jenna and Sydney, are recent high school graduates and will start their pursuits of higher education at Michigan State and Grand Valley State in the fall of 2024. As a family, we love having game nights, camping, and watching movies.
I look forward to connecting with all of you in the coming weeks and want to thank you for sharing your wonderful kids with us. Please know that my door is always open to you.
Thank you,
Jason Taylor
Principal
